Who is responsible for your information

The petitcanon.ca website is operated by the business below. It is responsible for the personal information it collects and holds.

The business's contact details appear here.

For any question about your information, or to exercise your rights, write to the person in charge of the protection of personal information, , at . Please write “Personal information” in the subject line.

What you send us

We collect information only when you fill out a form on the site. Each form asks for the minimum needed; optional fields are marked as such.

Information collected by each form, purposes and retention period
FormInformationWhyRetention
Order Email, first name, last name, phone number (optional), shipping address, models, sizes and quantities, amounts, gift message and note (optional), newsletter choice. To process, prepare and deliver your order; to write to you about it (confirmation, payment, tracking, return); to keep our accounting records. The period required by tax and accounting laws, generally six years.
Contact us Name, email, subject, order reference (optional), message. To reply to your message. Two years after our last exchange, unless the message concerns an order.
Newsletter Email and your consent (checkbox). To send you our news, if you asked for it. Until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
Back-in-stock alert Email, model and size requested. To let you know, once, when this model is back in this size. Until the alert is sent, and for no more than twelve months.
Size reminder Email, current size and the child's age (or month of birth), the child's first name if you choose to provide it. To write to you when your child is likely to need a new size, if you asked for it. Until the last scheduled reminder or until you unsubscribe.
Customer photo Photo, name or first name to display (optional), email, caption (optional), your consent to publication. To publish the photo on the site, only with your consent; to write to you about this publication. As long as the photo is published. It is removed upon simple request.

For a customer photo, we recommend not showing a child's face: a photo of the little feet is enough. We never publish a child's last name.

We use your information only for the purposes stated when you provide it. For any other purpose, we would first ask for your consent.

The newsletter and the size reminder are optional and are never a condition for placing an order. We send them only if you have checked the box provided, and you may unsubscribe at any time, using the link in each email or by writing to us. Your unsubscribe request takes effect no later than ten business days after you make it.

No payment is requested on the site for the time being, and no card number is entered on it: payment instructions are sent to you by email after you place your order.

What is collected automatically

  • No advertising or audience measurement cookies. The site sets no cookies to track you, and uses no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel and no embedded social media buttons.
  • No external resources. Fonts, images and scripts are served by our own site: your browser does not contact any other service when you view our pages.
  • Hosting provider's technical logs. As with any website, our hosting provider receives technical data with each visit: IP address, browser type, page requested, date and time. This data is used to operate and secure the site. We do not use it to identify you or to build a profile of you.
  • No profiling or location tracking. We use no technology that would allow us to identify you, locate you or build a profile of you, and no decision is made by automated processing.

So that you don't have to start over, some information is kept in your own browser, on your device (local storage). It is not sent to us: we receive only what you send yourself through a form. These are not cookies: they are not sent to the server with each visit.

Information kept in the visitor's browser
InformationWhat it is used forHow long
Cart pc-panier-v1 To keep the models, sizes and quantities in your cart. Until you empty it or clear the site data.
Last size pc-derniere-pointure To suggest the last size you found or chose right away. Until you clear the site data.
Recently viewed pc-vus-recemment To show the last models you viewed (twelve at most). Until you clear the site data.
My list pc-liste-v1 To keep the models saved in your baby registry, and the first name you enter there, if any. Until you empty the list or clear the site data.

To erase everything, use your browser's “Clear site data” feature. If you share your baby registry, its contents (models, sizes and the optional first name) are included in the link's address: anyone who receives the link can see them, and the address goes through our hosting provider like any page viewed.

Hosting and service providers

We entrust certain tasks to service providers, who have access only to the information needed for their service:

  • Netlify, Inc. (United States) hosts the site and receives the forms you send. Submissions are kept in our Netlify account until we delete them.
  • Akismet, a service of Automattic Inc. (United States), analyzes form submissions for Netlify in order to filter out unwanted messages.
  • Our email provider receives our correspondence with you.
  • The carrier receives your name, shipping address and, if needed, your phone number, to deliver your parcel.

Information stored outside Quebec. Netlify and Akismet are located in the United States; your information is therefore communicated to and stored there. We choose these providers taking into account the sensitivity of the information, the protection measures set out in their terms of service and the applicable legal framework. Once in the United States, your information may be subject to the laws of that country.

Use and sharing

  • We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
  • We share it only with the service providers above, for the service they provide to us, or when required by law.
  • Only the people at Petit Canon who need it to process your order or request have access to it.

Retention

We keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes stated in the table above, or as long as required by law. After that, we destroy it or make it anonymous. Form submissions are regularly exported and then deleted from our Netlify account.

Security and incidents

The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to our accounts (hosting, email) is protected by strong passwords and two-step verification.

In the event of a confidentiality incident (unauthorized access, use or communication, or loss of information), we promptly take steps to limit its consequences and prevent it from happening again. We record every incident in a register. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the persons concerned without delay.

Your rights

Free of charge, you may:

  • access the information we hold about you and obtain a copy of it;
  • have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal;
  • withdraw your consent, for example to the newsletter, the size reminder or the publication of a photo;
  • request its deletion when it is no longer needed or its retention is not authorized;
  • receive the information you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability), or have it sent to the person of your choice;
  • ask that we stop disseminating information about you, if it is disseminated in contravention of the law.

How to do it: write to . To protect your information, we may ask you to confirm your identity, for example by writing from the email address used for your order. We will reply in writing within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied: you may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec. For information that flows outside Quebec, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

The site is intended for parents and for adults who give slippers as gifts. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. The only information about a child is what an adult chooses to give us (size, age, optional first name), and we limit it to what is strictly necessary.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version is published on this page with its update date. In the event of a significant change, a notice is displayed on the site.
