Printable foot template
Place the heel on the line and see where the toes reach: the size and the matching age can be read right on the sheet, at actual size.
One sheet, a printer, and you're ready to measure
The template fits on one US Letter page, and also prints on A4 paper.
The PDF is in French for now, with the same zones and measurements. For the English sheet, print the preview below from this page.
Print at 100%, at “actual size”. In the print window, turn off “Fit to page” or “Shrink oversized pages”.
Then measure the check ruler at the top of the sheet with a real ruler: it must be exactly 5 cm. If it isn't, the scale is off: reprint before measuring.
Measuring with the template
It only takes two minutes. The easiest way is with two people: one adult holds the child, the other watches the toes.
-
Print at 100%
Choose “Actual size” or “100%”, then check that the check ruler measures exactly 5 cm.
-
Heel on the line, foot flat
Lay the sheet on a hard floor. Place the foot flat inside the dotted lane, with the heel against the heel line. Tip: fold the sheet along this line and push the fold against a wall.
-
Standing if possible
If your child can stand, measure them standing, with their weight spread over both feet. For a baby, place the foot flat, toes relaxed, without forcing.
-
Read the zone of the longest toe
The zone where the tip of the longest toe lands gives the size, the matching age and the foot length (approximate).
-
Measure both feet
Both feet aren't always the same length: keep the measurement of the longer one.
-
Leave a little room
If the toe lands on the line between two zones, or very close to it, choose the next size up: the foot keeps a little room to grow.
The foot lengths on the template are approximate, and the ages are a guide: every child grows at their own pace. If you're not sure, write to us with the child's age and their measurement.

The preview is scaled down on screen: printed at 100%, it is actual size. The zones and ages are also in the size chart.
No printer handy?
Measure the foot with a ruler, or simply start from the child's age: the size guide calculator gives you the size in seconds.
